Municipal Gardens




The Municipal Gardens, a very important green area in the heart of all citizens, includes thegardens located at Regina Margherita Road and Miscello From Ripe Street, alongwith the space of the ex Largo Lavatoio, recently redeveloped by theMunicipality of Crotone and the playground "Baden Powell" named afterthe founder of Scouting. The "Baden Powell", recently equipped withgames for all children within the project "Same games - same smiles"which falls under the line "Crotone as a sympathetic city" of thefirst strategic plan of the city, and also has the aim of improving the'integration of children with disabilities, through the accessibility of leisure areas and facilities for the game.

The ex park of pine trees, is dedicated to Umberto Zanotti Bianco: eminent figure of Southern Italy, a man of culture, an archaeologist, and writer. The park is located on XXV Aprile street, contributes to the development of the territory, to the protection and the promotion of city's green areas.

 
Pignera Park



Pignera Park or "The Garden of Pythagoras"






The garden of Pythagoras is a largespace in the south-east of the city, perched on a hill which overlooks Viale Giovanni Falcone with access from the car park St. John of God Hospital. An open-air museum with a series sculptures representing the calculations, the theorems and discoveries of the famous mathematician. Inside were made ​​between 2005 and 2007, the Museum and Gardens dedicated to Pythagoras, a central figure not only in philosophy and mathematics, but also for the international history of the city. Pythagoras, who fled from his native island of Samos in 529 a. C., founded the Pythagorean school in Crotone, famous throughout Magna Graecia. It is imagined as a museum of science, aims to deepen the knowledge of the philosopher in an interactive way and through the use of new technologies. Garden and museum spaces are configured as separate but complementary. The garden consists of seventeen exhibits dedicated to the Pythagorean mathematics leading to the building museum, partly underground and built into the hill. It, with the cover hanging garden was conceived as a contemporary panoramic viewpoint on the park and the city.
